Yesterday, I made a point of staying off the computer. I felt I needed to just do...something, anything that didn't require a screen.

As a family, we made a point of doing some house and yard work. It was a beautiful day with the windows open and the birds chirping. It was an atypical spring day for Georgia where the sun is out but the humidity wasn't stifling.

The girls have been asking to foster a dog but the yard and the basement needed some work. We used the carrot of fostering to get them to really help. The oldest and I spent most of the morning digging out the lower yard fence. With all the rain, the runoff has built up to a point where I could easily look over the normally six-foot-tall fence. It wasn't pleasant and we are not done, but we made good headway.

I decided to build a new set of steppes to help catch the runoff about half-way up the slope. After the two of us spent 3 hours shoveling and shuffling dirt, I decided we may have to hire some real muscle to help out next time. Add it to the list of things we will do once quarantining is a thing of the past.

This morning, we watched the Mount Pisgah UMC service online. I figured we could all use some positive and uplifting messaging for once. I also spent some time today just looking at artworks from museums in Paris. http://parismuseescollections.paris.fr/en I am getting a little fatigued from the constant onslaught of bad news regarding the corona virus. It seems NY and Italy have really been hit bad.

I have been to Home Depot now 3 times in the last 3 days. I am grateful they have been open and I guess so has a large number of other people. Today, I rented a chainsaw to cut through some 6x6 timbers and it was as packed any other normal weekend day.

When I returned the chainsaw, I took my wife and Bolt with me. We drove down to Buckhead, just to see. Traffic was very light but there was some. Chris spotted an Aldi and made me stop so she could get a couple of items that she normally would buy in Germany. Weiner Snitzel tonight!

Tomorrow, we go back to our regular irregular stay-at-home schedule. The older child's school is following a regular schedule from 9-2pm. The other is following Fulton County's very lame schedule of one class per DAY! She is spending far less time on academics, which means she is spending far more time playing games or chatting online with friends I think the school is going to regret this stance in 2 or 3 weeks. In fact, they seem to be keeping Spring Break on the schedule.

I don't know about you, but where are we supposed to go when everything and every place and all modes of large transportation are closed? So, what are we supposed to do with a teenager who can't really leave the house while we continue to work?

Some art supplies the girls ordered on Amazon arrived today. Maybe one or both of them will become inspired and create something amazing? Better yet, maybe it will inspire them to do anything. Sorry, I jest.
