Day 4-corona refugee

Monday March 16th, 2020. Corona Refugee I coined this term to describe the state of things for those people affected by the changes the virus is causing but haven't actually gotten sick.

Of course, my plan to hunker down lasted one day. It seems I forgot to buy fresh veggies and now everyone wants to make sandwiches. So off to Kroger we went. Took our hand sanitizer and tried not to touch anything. Got a case of water to have on hand, veggies, and a roast.

Also decided to get fuel up the car since gas is really cheap and I was down to 1/4 tank. My plan is still to try to keep all supplies topped off just in case the US decides to follow Italy, France or Spain's model of mandatory 14 day quarantine.

Even if something things don't change as much as expected, other things will and have changed. We are forced to watch sports re-runs and cancel all the little outings we had planned. We have to cancel or delay our plans for the summer.

My wife's younger sister is planning a baptism in Germany in July. We were planning what else to do while we are over there. One thought was to take a cruise-canceled. Another was to rent a caravan and trek across Europe-canceled. Now, we aren't even sure we can fly over since Delta has canceled 40% of it's flights and most countries have already announced lockdowns.

Unfortunately, I think this is the new reality not for 2 weeks but more like 4-6 weeks. Once the number of cases and covid-19 deaths level off, will governments list those restrictions? One concern is would case numbers rise again. We can't really use China as a model as most outside health organizations feel China is under-reporting and trying to blame others, especially the US for the outbreak or any re-infections.

The medical experts layout an 8 week wave. Eight freakin weeks! Well, on that note, I think I will go to bed and see how tomorrow looks.
